My name is Charis Bamnios, I am 21 years old and this academic year I will have the particular honour of serving as Vice President for Moot Courts at ELSA Greece.
My journey in the organisation began in the first year of my studies. Since then, 3 years have passed, full of activities, competitions and unforgettable experiences, the best of which was last year, when I served as Vice President for Academic Activities at the local group of ELSA Thessaloniki. A special year, which helped me realise my love for carrying out big projects, such as competitions of course, culminating in the biggest legal competition in the country, the National Moot Court Competition (EDED).
My vision this year for the Moot Courts Area relates to two major competitions. Starting with the transnational side of things, this year ELSA Greece has the great pleasure of organising a qualifying round of the International “Helga Pedersen Moot Court Competition” in Athens. An opportunity to prove that, as a country, we possess a distinctive “know-how” in carrying out major competitions, after eleven consecutive years of successfully organising the EDED.
As regards the National Moot Court Competition, the primary goals are to ensure the highest academic prestige and quality of the competition. A project that has become established in the legal world and enjoys the recognition and support of all three university institutions of the country, and which, while characterised each year by absolute success, breaks through its own ceiling and keeps evolving. So I, in turn, with absolute respect for my predecessors, will seek to upgrade the competition wherever there is room for it, with the aim of creating a unique experience for the participants and for our partners.
