My name is Despoina Vamvali, I am 21 years old and this year I have the great pleasure of serving as Vice President for Academic Activities of ELSA Thessaloniki.
My journey in the organisation began in my 2nd year, when I hesitantly applied to be a Specialised Collaborator for Academic Activities. That year I first came to know the dynamism of this organisation, one that, beyond offering opportunities for professional and academic development, offers so much more… Memories, experiences, friendships… For these reasons and even more, last year I served as Specialised Collaborator for Financial Management at ELSA Thessaloniki and for Moot Courts at ELSA Greece. But I did not want my ELSA journey to stop there…
What I love most, and what led me once again to the Academic Activities Area, is the fact that it combines the academic and the social element. At a time when human rights are constantly in the spotlight, my goal for this year is to carry out activities of a high academic standard that will at the same time make students think and raise their awareness.
However, ELSA is not simply an organisation for me… it is the joy I felt after seeing all the activities take shape, it is the experiences and the discovery of my own self, it is its people… So, one personal goal of mine for this year is to say, in my own way, a big thank you both to ELSA and to its people for everything they have given me, and I hope I manage to give them even more in return…”
