My name is Lydia Papadogeorgaki, I am in the third year of my studies at the Law School of Democritus University of Thrace and this academic year I have the pleasure and honour of serving as Vice President for Academic Activities of ELSA Komotini.
From my first steps at the Faculty I looked for ways to combine theoretical knowledge with practical experience. For me, ELSA is an organisation that provides the right framework for making legal science living, creative and socially useful.
My journey in this association thus began as early as my first year of studies, when I took the position of Specialised Collaborator in the Academic Activities Area, a position I also took in my second year, this time in the Seminars and Conferences Area.
My journey in ELSA so far has been inseparably linked with the people who form its core. The support, cooperation and enthusiasm of its people helped me to love the organisation and to understand its vision more deeply. Together we share common values and the belief that legal science can act as a lever for progress and social contribution. It is this collectivity that makes my experience in ELSA truly special and that gives me the strength to continue with even greater dedication.
This year, from this new position, my goal is to strengthen the activities that bridge theory and practice. For this year, I intend to focus on activities that promote legal reflection, the practical exercise of skills and the dissemination of legal education in society. Through events dedicated to human rights and social justice, through opportunities to practise argumentation, through contact with school pupils and young citizens, and through specialised courses, I seek to create a framework in which students will be able not only to broaden their knowledge, but also to develop their role as responsible and active lawyers of tomorrow.
