ELSA Delegations

ELSA Delegations

ELSA Delegations are among the most important international opportunities ELSA offers its members. Through the programme, students and young lawyers can represent ELSA at recognised international organisations and institutions, taking part in discussions and processes that shape international law and global policies.

Every year, six calls are published (Calls for ELSA Delegations), giving members the chance to gain direct insight into how international organisations work and to experience international diplomacy first-hand. Participants attend sessions, contribute to legal and policy discussions and become familiar with the process of drafting international legal texts and decisions.

Taking part in an ELSA Delegation offers valuable specialisation in areas of law that are often not covered in university studies, while also allowing participants to better understand the background of international treaties, policies and institutional decisions.

In addition, Delegates have the chance to meet distinguished lawyers, diplomats and experts from around the world, building a strong international network of contacts that can contribute significantly to their professional path. Thanks to ELSA’s international recognition and credibility, its members gain unique access to international decision-making processes and represent the ELSA network before leading experts and organisations.

ELSA Delegations take place in cooperation with major international bodies, such as the United Nations (UN), the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), UNESCO, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), UNCITRAL, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the International Criminal Court (ICC), the International Labour Organization (ILO), UN Women and many other international organisations.

If you are interested in international law, international relations and international diplomacy, ELSA Delegations are a unique opportunity to gain high-level experience and actively contribute to the international legal dialogue.

For more information about open calls, partner organisations, selection criteria and upcoming sessions, interested people can visit the official ELSA Delegations platform: delegations.elsa.org

All available participation opportunities are published through the platform, along with information about the international organisations and the application procedures.
