LinC (Legal internships in your country) is the first and only organised traineeship programme for law school graduates in Greece. ELSA Greece brings its members into direct contact with the job market, giving them the chance to apply for a traineeship position at some of the most established law firms and law offices in the country.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Who is eligible to take part in the programme?
The programme is primarily aimed at final-year law students. Therefore, the basic condition for participation is that they have completed their undergraduate studies at one of the three Law Schools, or that their completion is expected by the start of the traineeship. This year, however, with the programme’s new structure, providers are exceptionally given the option, if they wish, to also announce a traineeship position for undergraduate students.
Do I have to be an ELSA member to take part?
To take part in the programme, it is mandatory for the candidate trainee to have renewed their membership in one of the three Local Groups of ELSA Greece (ELSA Athens, ELSA Thessaloniki, ELSA Komotini).
Does the internship count towards the mandatory 18-month legal traineeship?
Yes, it counts. It is no different at all from the mandatory traineeship required by law for obtaining the status of lawyer. The traineeship takes place with a lawyer who has the right of audience before the Supreme Court (Areios Pagos) or the Court of Appeal, as well as at law firms that include lawyers with the aforementioned right of audience.
How does the selection work, and what is ELSA Greece’s role?
The selection is made exclusively by the law office or law firm in question. Within the framework of the programme, ELSA Greece is responsible for communication between the candidate trainees and the law offices or law firms, for checking the applications and for announcing the results.
How can I find out about available positions?
All traineeship opportunities, together with the further necessary information on each position, will be posted on the official ELSA Greece website (elsa-greece.org), in the sub-tab “Traineeship Opportunities”, under the main tab “LinC”.
When do applications open for prospective trainees?
The fifth application round has just opened and will remain open until 15 April!
