7th National Moot Court Competition – Oral Phase – Winners

The in-person oral phase of the 7th National Moot Court Competition was successfully completed, with all the public health protection measures in place.
The Competition, held under the auspices of Her Excellency the President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, with ERT and the First Programme as official media sponsor and with the support of major law firms and important bodies, took place in the courtrooms of the Council of State and the Athens Court of Appeal. After the preliminary rounds held on Saturday 31 July, the teams that qualified for the finals on Sunday 1 August competed against each other, and the winners for each jurisdiction emerged. The winning teams were determined both by the assessment of their performance in the preceding written phase by academics and judges, and by their presence in the oral phase, pleading before established jurists and judges. Thus, the winning teams were: for the Administrative Jurisdiction, Team D5, consisting of Vasiliki Oikonomou, Athanasios Beretsos and Panagiotis Christodoulou; for the Civil Jurisdiction, Team A2, consisting of Faidra Eleftheria Stathouli, Konstantinos Avgitidis and Angelis Papastathopoulos; and for the Criminal Jurisdiction, Team P6, consisting of Elisavet Glavini, Klairi Angelopoulou and Grigoris Karadaidis. In addition, awards for best oralist and best pleading were presented for each jurisdiction respectively.
We warmly thank everyone who contributed to the realisation of our endeavour, and in particular the academic supervisors of each jurisdiction, Professors Zafirios Tsolakidis, Anna Apostolidou and Evgenia Prevedourou, the judges, all of them experienced judicial officers and academics, the markers and, of course, the special associates of each jurisdiction.
Warmest congratulations to the winners and those distinguished, as well as to every participant in the Competition! Everyone’s effort was extremely commendable, with high-level performances and a display of sound legal thinking and abilities that surprised the judges. We wholeheartedly wish every success to each and every one of them, and we hope that their experience of the 7th NMCC has been a remarkable moment in their journey so far!
We remind you that you can read in detail what took place in each jurisdiction during the oral phase, as well as a wealth of interviews with judges, academics, supporters and the winners of the competition, at Offline Post, which provided the journalistic coverage of the Competition.
