Dear Network,
We would like to thank the Hellenic Bank Association for its valuable support in organising the first conference of ELSA Greece for the academic year 2021/2022, on the theme “Legal Aspects of Corporate Transformations Law”, which took place on Friday 10 and Saturday 11 December at the Athens Chamber of Commerce and
Industry.
The Hellenic Bank Association (HBA) is the body representing the Greek and foreign credit institutions operating in Greece. It was founded in 1928 and is a not-for-profit legal entity governed by private law. It expresses the positions of its member banks, intervenes in an advisory capacity in the regulatory process, participates in decision-making in law-drafting or technical committees at international, European and national level, and cooperates with bodies and associations of the financial sector of other countries within the framework of bilateral or multilateral cooperation. Its aim is the collective modernisation of its member banks and the overall development of the financial sector.
The HBA currently has 18 member banks, 10 regular and 8 associate, with more than 33,000 directly employed bank employees, 1,702 bank branches, 5,925 Automated Teller Machines (ATMs), and operations in 11 foreign banking markets through subsidiary banks and branches, with 559 bank branches and almost 9,000 staff.
The Hellenic Bank Association is not a bank, does not carry out any direct or indirect banking activity, and does not hold funds on behalf of its members or the public. It is not a supervisory authority of banks, does not impose regulatory compliance rules, and is not an employers’ association, nor does it conclude collective labour agreements.
