Online advertising is one of the main pillars of the internet economy.
Few services provided online (news websites, search engines and social media) are now left that do not base their business models on attracting a large number of users, which automatically also means attracting advertising services.
Online advertising services are a multi-billion-euro market, which largely fuels the provision of a series of services free of charge and, in return, needs the data generated by users so that it can address them with personalised characteristics and messages.

Online advertising services are a multi-billion-euro market, which largely fuels the provision of a series of services free of charge and, in return, needs the data generated by users so that it can address them with personalised characteristics and messages.
For these reasons online advertising raises complex issues concerning, on the one hand, institutional state functions, such as political action and electoral processes, and on the other, the protection of personal data, consumer rights and competition between businesses, factors that also affect and distribute the power of advertisers and advertised parties.
Within the framework of these critical issues, Lawspot, ELSA Greece, Athens Legal Tech and the Association for the Protection of Personal Data and Privacy are co-organising this year the InfoLaw Conference 2021 with the general theme
“Data, Online Advertising and the Digital Economy”.
“Data, Online Advertising and the Digital Economy”.
The Conference, which has the support of Microsoft, the Athens Medical Association and Sakkoulas-online, will be framed by distinguished speakers with the aim of providing a comprehensive picture of the legal and ethical issues arising from modern forms of online advertising and the role of data in the internet economy.
The Conference will take place online (Zoom) on Friday 12 and Saturday 13 March 2021.
Over these two days three sessions will take place to analyse the relevant themes, while the conference will conclude with a seminar on “Public Health and Electronic Applications”.
Participation in the conference is free of charge.
